"Daftar may be the enemy of all daughters:
you're the enemy of all ladies, and you're the enemy of my honor." To a
particular extent, I am aware and can relate genuinely to the attitude of
Daftar Situs Judi. I've not a problem with Daftar's philosophy or the fight
against corruption within the Maori community. However, after reading his
recent article, I believe his ideas are not well thought out.
I am not ready to condemn someone since they
choose to participate Maori women's movements. I believe every person has the
proper to free speech and expression. However, I believe Daftar is by using
this fight to help expand his own interests. His views and beliefs about the
planet and its attitudes towards Maori women are twisted and for me, he's
attempting to help expand his own interests in the Maori community at the
expense of others.
Most Maori women will agree that there's not
just a woman's reproductive role or right that is absolute or unbreakable. You
will find, however, many issues which should be addressed as the populace
numbers increase.
What anyone views as offensive or hurtful,
another may view differently. I realize that Daftar thinks that the writer of
the controversial article had crossed the line, but even as we stand today as a
community, we've many issues which must be addressed. It is important to think
about those in the Maori communities and other individuals who don't share
exactly the same views.
There are many issues concerning Maori law and
Maori gender equality, which require the attention of all of us in the Maori
community. It is important that the Maori, Australian and American
nationalities have a speech in regards to this issue and all parties should
address any issues that are deserving of consideration. For Daftar to speak of
rape as a Maori "weapon" (which he did), shows precisely how little
he understands or cares about the feelings of Maori women. The sexual violence
of days gone by and present needs to be discussed as it was, much less Daftar
believes it should be.
Several problems were not solved by Western
Australia or the United States. We must hold our leaders accountable for the
issues of days gone by and the near future, along with what we could do to
alleviate current concerns.
It's time that Daftar stood up and be counted
and make a stand against his negative beliefs about Maori women. I am hoping
Daftar will do this so that we can all unite and move forward.
